Brussels Sprouts

Side note: →

I’m posting my friends blog on my site because I didn’t do a very good job of telling ya’ll what I was up to.   You can read his blog; I’m in every important blog post.  We will never admit it, but at this point we’re probably codependent.  It’s highly debatable though.

As a hardcore feminist…

I am secretly happy I will have strong guys every step of the way to help me with my two overweight bags that I’m too weak to carry.

I mean this in the most empowered way.

I even brought my bathing suit to Brussels and did not discover this till it was too late.  Epic fail!

The deepest swimming pool in the world is located in Brussels, Belgium inside a recreational diving center and anyone can use it provided they are accompanied by a professional diver.
With a depth of 33 meters (108 ft) the pool contains several submerged structures offering a variety of diving opportunities.

I can’t wait to see this creature when I come home

I can’t wait to see this creature when I come home

7 days left

I’d rather talk more about what I want to do when I come home and home (NJ and DC).  In no particular order I want to:

  • See the Arcimboldo exhibition at the National Gallery (going on till January 9th)
  • Go see Vivlandi’s 4 Seasons on January 9th with the National Philharmonic (but the cheap ones are already sold out.  Tickets start at $32 now…)
  • learn how to cook in my new apartment
  • Ice skate at Aspen (F-towners, I’m planning this so you better be ready)
  • Go the the Brain exhibition at the Museum of Natural History (NYC not the Smithsonian)
  • Go see The NYC Ballet’s Nutcracker
  • Go see Handel’s Messiah (always wanted to do that.  Trés Christmas-y)
  • Somehow get Lady Gaga tickets for 2/24
  • watch the lunar eclipse on 12/21
  • play with puppies
  • read
  • not miss Europe too much.

Quick Updates from the Balkans!

Hey everyone!

So I’m currently in Croatia having a blast because the Balkans is one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been.  Last night we did one of Jerry’s world famous walking tours and went out to eat at a great restaurant (yay real food.  If I had another kepbap, I was going to be sick.

This morning before breakfast, I went to the local market hopeing to find authentic Crotian crafts or something but was disappointed because it was only a farmers market.  Luckily, we were able to save our morning trip by visiting the national cathedral and catching the tail end of mass.  Though I do not know Croatian, I was still able to follow thanks to the many masses I was forced to go to recieve confirmation.

Ok time to get on the bus!  Miss you all!

So instead of working on my final draft for my paper, I discussed physics with Dan

Me:  I’m sorry.  Physics is a terrible thing.
Dan (in a high and mighty internet tone):
Eh… it is what it is.
Me:  I don’t think it exists really.
Dan:
wait… what?
Me:  Physics.  It’s all theory.
Dan: It’s all theory?
Me: I mean, didn’t Einstein prove Newton wrong?  We just need someone to prove Einstein was wrong and we’ll be back to Newton again.
Dan:
Yeah…but the theories makes such good guesses!
Me:
I think not.  You should have just written on the exam “Chaos theory.  Deal with it, bitch”

I really miss you my dear-even though we talk nearly every day.

Why is this week is going to be awesome

1. Already finished my paper due Thursday
2. Seeing Harry Potter tomorrow
3. Interview with Amnesty International Crises Prevention and Response (wish me luck.  It’s a graduate internship!)
4. Parents and Grannie came and gave me my winter coat.
5. Grannie bought me four books for my birthday
6. Balkans fieldtrip on Friday
7. Still not a grownup (I’m 20 till next Wendesday)

I think that’s a pretty good list.

I think that my blog would be a lot more interesting if Brad Neely read from it, dear readers.

Also, seeing Harry Potter on Tuesday…two days before it comes out in the United States.

Internship Papers

Papers are terrible things.  Especially when I should be writing about my adventures here rather than arguing why the EU is ineffective at most things.  Instead of writing my paper, I should just write

“America wins.”

and then get an A and tell you about all the things I’ve been up to.  Sadly, I’m going to finish writing my paper and neglect you all again, because I’ve decided I hate writing blogs and would rather talk to all the people I love (especially the ones that sent me mail!  Shout out to Gabby and Dan!).  But since most of the people who read this I talk to on a semi-weekly basis/are currently in Brussels with me now (Hi Mom), this is not a big deal because you already know the gossip.  I’m alive, I get lost constantly, and I’m allergic to Tuesdays now.

Plus, the pictures on facebook are much more important because they tell prettier stories (minus the ones where Kyle’s camera died.  Those tell quite similar stories) and Fanny the Fancy camera took them-which means they look fantastic.
